On Tue. May 7th from 05:00 pm - 08:00 pm, the City of Clinton Fire Department will be hosting our monthly child car seat checkpoint. The event will be held at the Clinton fire station number 1, at 100 Longmire Rd. (across from Big Lots). This event is a partnership with the City of Clinton, East Tennessee Children's Hospital, Safe Kids, Anderson County Sheriff's Office, Clinton Police Dept. Anderson County EMS, Marlow Vol. Fire Dept., and members of other agencies in the area.

At this checkpoint, the community can have their child car seats inspected to ensure they are installed correctly, the seat is in date, the seat is not recalled and the child fits in the seat properly. We will have certified technicians on site to make sure your child is as safe as possible while riding in the vehicle.

Statistically, eighty percent of all child seats are installed wrong. This could potentially put your child in danger in the event of a crash. At the checkpoint, the technicians will not only make sure the seat is safe and installed correctly, but will help to educate the parent or guardian about current child seat laws and safety tips. Child safety is the main focus of this event and it is completely free of charge to the community.
