Fire Safety in the Kitchen.
Never leave cooking food unattended.
Don't wear loose clothing or roll up your sleeves when you
are cooking.
Do not have children or pets within 3 feet of your cooking
area.
Turn the pot handles inward toward the center of the stove
so kids will not grab them.
Never cook:
If you have been drinking excessively.
If you are taking any medication that can make you drowsy.
Or if you are sleepy.
Keep anything that can burn away from the stove. i.e. dish
towels, curtains, food packaging, or potholders.
Keep grease cleaned up cause it to can catch on fire.
Clean your oven To prevent burns:
Open hot cooking bags slowly.
Never use a damp or wet oven mitt to remove food from the oven.
Never overload circuits.
Use ground fault circuit interrupters on all kitchen counter
outlets.
Never use faulty cooking equipment.
Keep your kitchen clean to prevent falls and/or cuts.
For grease fires in a pan cover with a lid turn off the burner
and wait for it to cool.
For oven fires close the oven door and turn the oven off.
For microwave fires close the door immediately and unplug.
Have the microwave oven serviced prior to using it again.
Call the Fire Department for all Fire Emergencies.
