Duties of Each Shift

With the exception of Administrative and Staff employees, each member of the Clinton Fire Department shall serve a twenty-four and one-half hour tour of duty, working one shift (24.5 hours) and being off two shifts (47.5 hours).

Scheduled work detail hours are as follows:

07:45 hours until 17:00 hours Monday thru Thursday

Saturday Detail Trucks and Bay Duties

Fire Service shall be provided to the City of Clinton twenty-four hours each day, seven days each week. After arriving for duty, no member of CFD shall leave duty without permission from the Shift Supervisor. Any member allowed to leave during a shift must first be properly relieved by a competent replacement.

Members of the CFD are always on call while off-duty and are subject to be call to report for duty at any time. All personnel shall wear their CFD pager at all times both on and off duty, and shall immediately respond when summoned. Station and grounds shall be kept neat and clean at all times

Tobacco use is prohibited inside CFD stations, except in the engine rooms. A daily engine check list is provided for each fire station. Each engine must be routinely checked according to the list. All equipment of the Fire Department is to checked out thoroughly daily.

It is mandatory that all full-time Fire Department member attend fire drills unless excused by the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief or Captain on duty.
