The Finance Department

is responsible for the accounting and financial functions of the City. This responsibility includes designing and maintaining an effective system of internal controls and recording all financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

This department’s responsibilities include the collection of property and business taxes, collection of all City court related fines and fees, preparation of the City's financial statements and budget documents, coordination of long-term debt issuances, and administration of the City's cash management and investment program.

The annual budget is coordinated and prepared by the finance department and then monitored throughout the year. Behind the scenes, the department prepares all payrolls, pays all bills, maintains asset records, records all revenue, and prepares month-end and year-end reports.
